Hyperlynx Studio FieldBook — Issue 004
August 3, 2026
his Month's Field Check
Go to your About page right now and read it out loud.
Not in your head. Out loud. Yes, even if someone's in the room. Especially then.
If you trip over your own words, so does everyone else, they just leave instead of pushing through. And if it reads like a press release or something a legal team signed off on, that's the problem. Nobody ever bonded with a mission statement. People connect with people.
Three questions while you read:
Does this sound like me? Does it tell someone why they should care? Does it make them want to keep going, or reach for the phone?
Any "no" in there means that page is quietly working against you, every day, for free.
What I've Been Up To This Month
A lot of this month came down to kindness.
Not the greeting-card kind. The UX kind. The little decisions that make a site easier to use without anyone noticing you made them. Clearer buttons. Shorter paths to the stuff people actually came for. Fewer moments of "wait, where do I click?"
It's not flashy work. Nobody's ever thrown a parade for a well-labeled button. But it's the difference between a site that annoys people in ways they can't quite name and one that just gets out of the way.
I also loaded up the site with free resources, practical things you can use without hiring a soul. Go poke around: hyperlynxstudio.com/free-resources/
And on the writing side, I'm elbow-deep in edition two of my series on tools you already own but barely use. The first one did well. This one digs deeper into the "wait, it does THAT?" territory we all live in.
Before You Hire Anyone, Start Here
Curious about your site but not ready to talk to a human yet? Fair. The free resources page is a low-commitment first stop. No forms, no email wall on most of it. Just useful stuff.
